Todays Look - Blue Grey Shimmer

Today's look was a quick and cozy one plus last minute! I love this jumper top as it's got a soft body and shimmer sleeves, paired with simple skinnies, a white stiletto and I threw on a cape for outer wear style! Capes in this kind of weather are super cute I think they have been quite the big thing for winter fashion!

My makeup was a natural look but I did go for a full coverage of foundation and lashings of mascara, I did also stick to just lip balm today!

Dior Cherie Bow Makeup Spring 2013 Collection

For my birthday I was very kindly treated by my brother to products from the Dior Cherie Bow Spring 2013 collection. A few other permanent products and a fragrance will be featured in a separate post. There were a number of beautiful pieces in the collection - A Lip and Eye Palette, Two 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes, Dior Addict Lipsticks, Two Blushers, A new Lip Glow, Eye Shadow Pencils and a New Nail Glow.

I skipped two of the three eye shadow palettes, the blushers because I have way too many similar ones. I also skipped the eye pencils and nail glow.

NARS Lip Lacquer in 'Chelsea Girls'

"Full-bodied texture and stay-in-place wear in NARS signature shades. Lips look luscious in shades for day or night in hues that are perfect alone or for pairing with other products." - Nars Cosmetics

I'm a NARS addict and 'Chelsea Girls' lip lacquer was the first ever thing I bought from NARS when I discovered the brand. Having reached the end of my little pot of cuteness and gorgeousness I repurchased it last week. Since I've started blogging I haven't actually shared it with you guys so a new pot was the perfect opportunity to share it with you!

François Nars gives his insight on this product: "I love the presence and shine the laquers give to the lips. They give the perfect amount of color with a sexy shine." I have to totally agree with him and the "unique texture prevents color from bleeding. Includes Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Avocado Oil, Sesame Seed Oil and Jojoba Seed Oil", - Nars Cosmetics.

Birthday Outfit and Makeup

Hi Ladies, finally got round to uploading pictures from my birthday outfit and makeup. I wore a simple bandage dress in navy blue, nude heels and a dress coat. My makeup was quite heavy with a dark blue smokey eye and bright pink lips too!

Birthday and Catch up...

Hey Ladies, Hope your all keeping well, I thought I'd end the week with a post from the happenings of this week! Starting on the Monday it was my birthday, I had a lovely day although the coming and going of friends and family kind of began since the Thursday, Friday before and Weekend in the run upto Monday.

The rest of the week has been packed with work and uni, so mostly all work and no play! Same goes for the weekend however as I took delivery for some special birthday furniture I had today to put it all together! Expect a room organisation post very soon! I've  become totally obsessed in terms of wanting to organize and set up my room all over again!

I got quite lucky this year as I didn't purchase any Chanel or Dior Spring 2013 makeup collections myself! Usually I just go nuts with their seasonal collections! I was very kindly gifted bits from the collections as birthday presents (I was threatened not to go near a Chanel or Dior counter) and I think I only did once lol to replace my finished lip gloss! I got a few other really beautiful bits - shoes, bags, clothes, perfumes which I will be sharing with you too in the next few days, I did treat myself to a brand new wallet though! And the boy spoilt me rotten too - that mirrored vanity thing you see? Yeh...he did good! I'll share the set up with you soon!

Lunch Date OOTD

Today my bestie had time for a quick lunch meet, so I had to literally rush out the door with lipstick, liner and a bit of blush. My outfit was pretty simple - black dress, skinny jeans, kitten heels and a day clutch bag, I have to say I'm really digging a colour block clutch bag for a day time look. It was awesome using it today for home decor!

Outfit:
  • Black Coat - Karen Millen
  • Black Chiffon Dress - Michael Kors
  • Spike Stud Detail Pointed Kitten Heel Court Shoe - Zara
  • Skinny Jeans - Miss Sixty
  • Clutch Bag - New Look
Makeup
  • MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation Compact
  • Bobbi Brown Blush in Brown Berry
  • MAC Modesty Lipstick
  • YSL Creme Gel Eyeliner in Black

For my birthday I've had my hair dyed even darker so it's literally jet black! But I love it!

Hello Ladies...

I'm so sorry for going M.I.A! It's just been so crazy busy - since last week I had literally two/three days to prepare for my first ever London Fashion Week attendance, err hello? What to wear! With that life crisis I had the weekend to catch up on work related duties seeing as I took the entire day off for fashion week day one. Make time in between to get a little pampering done in order for my birthday which was followed onto Monday the 18th. Tuesday I was half working half baby sitting but mostly shopping! Spending burning the money I received for my birthday.

While I have soooo many posts planned for you guys ranging from reviews to hauls and organisation of my bedroom, I plan on being around more regularly after this weekend. For now tell me your thoughts on these quirky Gucci Optical Frames...

They are very out of my comfort zone, but I really want frames that are kind of different and perhaps a little more on the fashion focus side... I feel like if the model in the campaign below can wear them for what they are.. what the heck why can't I try and pull it off!

London Fashion Week...Here I come!

I am beyond excited to be invited to attend the Zoë Jordan Autumn/Winter 2013 Fashion Show, which is being hosted at London Fashion Week this Friday the 15th of February. Zoë Jordan's collection will be the first show to be opening London Fashion Week! So exciting!

It is such a big honour, a huge inspiration and strength for my blog to feature the Zoë Jordan Autumn/Winter 2013 collection! I look forward to sharing with all my lovely readers a part of London Fashion Week, it will also be my first attendance to London Fashion Week itself so it really is a big deal for me also! I have previously attended London Fashion Weekend but this will be something else - I can just feel it!

About Zoë Jordan:
Zoë Jordan is a British fashion designer. She was nominated for the 2012 Vogue/BFC Fashion Fund and shows at London Fashion Week.

"Zoë Jordan´s design philosophy overlooks trends and instead places a sharp focus on clean lines, ultra-refined silhouettes and the perfect form. The collections are designed to be what women want to wear using  fabrics sourced from the finest mills in Italy and France and colour palettes that enhance and flatter. Essentially, Zoë Jordan represents feminine swagger and a boyish insouciance." - Zoe-Jordan.com

"The label has received a major accolade for every year it has been trading; these include: being nominated for the 2012 VOGUE Designer Fashion Fund and Walpole Awards for Excellence-Best Emerging British Luxury Brand as well as winning the 2010 ELLE Talent Launchpad and the 2011 Walpole 'Brands of Tomorrow' awards. MAC Lipsticks from 'Strength Collection'

"Flex your femininity with a colour collection that's fearless, elegant and strong. Strike a powerful pose, stand out, redefine the notion of beauty - and do it with strength too irresistible to ignore." - MAC.

Quite a boring collection if you ask me, the eye palettes were easily dupable with the exception of the matte gray colours included; but for the sake of one colour I wasn't going to purchase the entire palette. So skip from me, eye pencils and mascaras were 'meh' and the blushes nothing special what with so many colours out there for contouring I found the shades similar to that and also easily dupable, they probably wouldn't show up on my NC43.5 skin tone. Skip skip skip there too.

But what wasn't boring and what I did want were the lipsticks, two of which were repromotes from the Iris Apfel collection which was only available online and I missed out on them, I blogged about here. I picked three lipsticks and one lip pencil.

Neon Pink Pumps

Yeh I'm your typical girly girl who can't resist pink! And neon pink is like a weird weakness of mine, so when I spotted these super cute neon pink ballet pumps I was mesmerized! How I wished they were in stilettos then I realised 'oh wait Dyno you have one pair of neon pink peep toe heels' which I blogged about here

But I still wished they were neon pink Christian Louboutin Pigalles (Can't find my size anywhere! *sigh*)! Anyway while I was dreaming of shoe heaven my paws picked up the flat ballerina pumps - I'll wear them; I promise I told myself. They are just toooooooo cute don't leave me they said! The colour makes me want to eat them (you weirdo Dyno)!

I don't know when I'll wear them but I'm thinking a Vegas holiday where flats will be a must? With my tanned skintone these look so hot, with dark indigo jeans the pop of colour is so bang on trend! They are simple but seriously stylish and the little bow detail is pretty! They make me feel like summer has come early!

I've recently found myself being good at collecting a flat shoe but bad at wearing them! Only because I can't live without my heels! But none the less these were just way too awesome and they are extremely comfortable! If your looking for comfortable pumps I really recommend these as they feel so soft on, I was pleasantly surprised, I walked round the house with them for a couple of hours and it felt like I was wearing slippers!

These flat pumps remind me of a Furla Candy Satchel Boston Bag in neon pink and together the two would look so awesome! Think I might make a visit to Furla next to do some matching! The patent finish I think really makes a difference to the way the colour looks which I think beautifies the basic pump so much.

You know the best part though ladies? They are only from H & M and for £7.99 - find them online here and in stores; they are also available in other colours, but neon pink being my absolute first choice!

Smart transitioning into Spring 2013...

With fashion week A/W 2013 round the corner and the shops just settling in Spring 2013 pieces and trends I thought I'd include my take on some pieces I'll be transitioning into for the current season!

I always enjoy browsing over and over my fashion magazines, first week of every month you'll find me collecting the plenty of magazines from my local magazine stands! I've noticed with the spring/summer 13 collections there's plenty of choices and the transition seemed to give birth to checks, stripes and colour blocking in terms of fashion; For accessories, bags and footwear there's definitely heavy metal detailing, bright and unusual totes and transparent items.

The thing is though I'm more of a dresser for myself than one who follows trends religiously but I definitely incorporate parts of the catwalk into my own style - and personally this works better for me! My university days of being able to wear absolutely anything has now made way for a more smart and sophisticated look - as my line of work really requires this: professional, academic, business woman. So while I don't want to be a boring typical office worker I play up my fashion choices in all kinds of ways!

Investment Pieces - Coats & Jackets
I really believe in investing in coats and jackets. These are items which get so much use out of them and can completely change your outfit. For winters there's heavy coats and padded jackets. But for spring/summer I love to purchase mac jackets. These are made of lightweight materials and are great cover ups when there is a chill about. Not only do they look smart but they are stylish and for a fact you can find so many different colors and styles so there's plenty of choice!

My personal favorites have to be a classic black or cream mac in a fit and flare style, because it suits my body type. There are however some very interesting straight cut, waisted, shoulder padded and embellished options. For short jacket options I really adore zip and stud details, it really vamps up an outfit and can be a laid back look option or a dressy one. At the moment I've noticed the short jackets with side zip detailing and these actually look really cool.

Layering Up - Knitwear
This to me is an important part when transitioning into different seasons and when weather is unpredictable! Cardigans happen to be my obvious choice because they go well over dresses, under jackets and they don't even have to be 'granny' looking anymore! There is so much choice of colors, styles and fits and these are great to wear in order to stay warm and comfortable. My personal favorite has to be animal print as I wore it here with an autumn color and can use it for spring with neutral colors too.

Trousers & Jeans
I've seen head-turning trousers over the last few weeks in bold colors and prints and these have come in for trousers, jeans, leggings and jeggings! So for spring 2013 if you really want to update your look in the chicest way possible just add an eye catching pair of trousers or jeans! I would however keep everything up top neutral and simple so that there isn't too much clashing of styles and colors. For me this kind of trend would work great with the cream mac jacket.

My other choice has to be leather trousers as these keep you warm on the chillier days and can be worn for a funky outfit. Not only do they go well with shorter jackets but I really love them under a black mac jacket for a fierce yet polished look.

Dresses
I'm definitely more of a dresses girl! And truth be told us fashionista's know the drill by now: LBD - Little Black Dress is your best friend and what ever time of year it is this is your ultimate, perfect, confident and investment piece which you cannot go wrong with. My personal choice is a turtle neck style and sleeveless which is perfect for client meetings, general work and for professional environments. The sleeveless option is nice to have so you can throw on a cardigan without it feeling bulky and the turtle neck just means I don't worry about my neckline being too low.

While wearing black is my constant choice I love to change my evening looks up so I tend to go for grey, navy, red or purple. For this post I chose purple because it's such a beautiful color. Not only does it suit tanned complexions like myself but it compliments all skin tones! If your not brave to wear sudden bright colors or the occasion doesn't call for a brighter hue, then I definitely think different darker shades of blue and deep purple are your next best choice.

Jewellery & Accessories
I spotted heavy metal jewellery pieces from earrings, necklaces to statement bracelets and rings. Whatever your style or choice in jewellery there is so much to choose from. My current favorites happen to be big and heavy chain detail bracelets and cuffs and choker style necklaces. Earrings I love to wear simple detailed studs or chandelier style drop earrings. On catwalks I noticed quite a bit of gold in heavy metal to some heavy bling options!

Sunglasses are your best accessory all year round! I buy a new pair each year and personally I tend to pick what suits my face more than favoring the latest styles off the catwalk only because I want to look cool and not stupid and each year there are plenty of styles for all face shapes so it's never a problem! I do however like large frames because they look so chic!

Watches are my other weakness and if there's one color I love to pair with spring pastel shades is rose gold, as it compliments this color palette so beautifully! A big solid looking metal statement watch is my current choice!

Handbags, Shoes & other Accessories
Tote bags are your best friend and there are a billion choices, sizes and styles. My personal preference has to be a bright option such as Louis Vuittons Alma in Indian Rose, it's beautiful, shiny, bold and is seriously striking, not only will it spruce up a neutral outfit but it will give some serious pop of color to a plane black ensemble! However I've also seen a mix of bright colors, block colors with transparent detailing - think Furla Candy Bags! So whatever your choice pick a tote that is totally unusual!

Shoes - hhmmmm while I've seen transparent heels and sharp bold colours for heels, spring tends to step into pastel colors and add fierce and brighter colors towards summer. While I love all kinds of shoes my safe choice for work has to be a nude pump. It goes with absolutely everything and with my choice of outfits! I don't mind a pointy or peep style so long as it's nude! It's versatile and sexy goes with black but goes with neutral shades too!

If your not at all brave and simply don't follow fashion trends then pick up a scarf - lol - any scarf that's bright, funky, light weight and silky. It updates any look and if you go for a lighter color you've ticked off a spring trend right there my dear! Easy, chic, stylish and warm when you need it!

I'm personally actually feeling really brave this year and if I incorporate anything else I'll be looking into hot pink for a jacket, royal blue for work dresses, greys and corals for skirts and tops, yellow for cardigans and accessories, sheer black for tops and blouses and graphic prints for jeans!

What's everyone else's pick for Spring 2013?

MAC Double Shot Lipstick

MAC 'Double Shot' lipstick is described as a 'full bodied mocha cream'. I've been looking for a true brown lipstick for quite sometime that firstly suited my complexion and secondly didn't look like a red brown or plum brown. This one has a nude brown undertone but isn't really a nude nude lips kind of colour.

'Double Shot' was released as part of a set of four lipsticks under the 'Middle Eastern' collection and have been added as new and permanents. If you're interested 'Double Shot' and 'Tabla' are two of the new lipsticks released and 'Yash' and 'Mehr' are re-promoted releases with this 'Middle Eastern' collection.
