February Favourites!

This is my first monthly favourites post of the products I've been enjoying and using very often in the past month. I'll hopefully do a round up at the end of each month if you guys enjoy it?!

Chanel Bagatelle Glossimer Lipgloss - This is one of the first items I picked up from many of the spring collections for 2012 out there. It's my favourite lipgloss so far! You can wear it alone or on top of any pink lipstick and it really looks beautiful with it's warm and shimmering pink sparkle. This is a limited edition glossimer from Chanel so grab it while you can!

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Socialite Pink - This gloss is my number one favourite gloss of the month! It is absolutely gorgeous! A true milky baby pink with pearl and shimmers, non sticky comfortable formula. It adds a dash of colour and is perfect over a lipstick or on it's own.

YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in #13 Peach Passion - If your a true beauty addict then you will need no introduction to Rouge Voluptes! I rediscovered this lippy in my stash and have been enjoying wearing it this month quite alot! It's smooth, creamy, moisturising and very pigmented and I did a review couple of weeks ago on this!

MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger - I love matte lipsticks and really wanted a orange toned lipstick, so Lady Danger was the one I picked at the beginning of the month. It's a bright coral red shade with a tinge of orange perfect for a bright lip combo for days when I'm feeling brave!

MAC Lipstick in Modesty - This is my all time holy grail lipstick, it's a my lips but better shade of lippy, I've been trying different shades of natural, nude and pink lipsticks so this got side tracked but I'm back to using it all over again and repurchased it again this month. Highly recommend for golden skin tones.

Balm de la Mer -  This is a true winter lip saver, hydrates, softens and keeps lips moisturised so they don't get chapped and dry during the cold months. The beginning of the month was really cold and the best things you can do for your lips is use a lip balm! And this balm is the best I use it everyday and more thaN my Keihls #1 lip balm.

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Epatant - I really fell in love with the Chanel Illusion D'Ombres when they first came out but what I've enjoyed wearing the most this month has been the shade Epatant. Epatant is a pewter-golden khaki with a hint of silver which comes through more than the green. But it's a perfect all over eye lid colour, simple, classic and beautiful. Sweep of liner and mascara and your eye makeup is complete!

YSL Creme Gel Eye Liner in #1 Deep Black - I bought this at the beginning of the month, tempted by the long lasting 24 hour gel formula I was sold. To my suprise this is excellent and I use it all the time now, it has replaced my liquid liners and kicked my Bobbi Brown Gel liner out the window too. It's very smooth and creamy and it is long lasting, doesn't remove till you use a eye makeup remover and that's exactly what you want!

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly -  I use this on it's own as a lid colour with Espresso in the crease and my natural eye makeup is done! But it's brilliant paired under other eyeshadows as a base due to its neutral skin colour base tone. I'ts my to go product for the eyes!

MAC Eyeshadow in Espresso - A medium matte brown shadow perfect for all over lid colour or mostly I use it in my crease. I usually use Cork but switched up to this. You can also use it on the brows blends perfectly with my new brunette hair shade.

(L-R: Chanel Epatant, YSL Deep Black, MAC Painterly, MAC Espresso)

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Blonde - My favourite highlighter of the month! I've always used Dior Amber Diamond Skin Poudre Shimmer as a highlighter and that's why never looked up any other highlighter till I read the hype on the Blonde Skin Finish from MAC, a limited edition repromote and I'm so glad I snapped one up! It gives my skin a natural and beautiful radiant glow!

Nars Blush Gaiety - Absolutely must have blusher! A pretty bubble gum pink in a matte formula, gives a natural glow I've only had it a few days but have reached for it so much I had to include it. I reviewed this blush last week and lucky for us it's a permanent new addition to Nars blushes! Yippee!

MAC 187 Duo Fibre Stippling Brush - I use this for my new MAC Mineralize Skin Finish, it applies it lightly and beautifully, the brush has soft synthetic fibres that pick up product lightly and can be used to be built up. I've been using it for my foundation, powder, blushes and highlighters.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres - Glossy Stain Review

Yves Saint Laurent have released a new lip product! You probably already know how much I love a YSL makeup product and so upon hearing of a new release I was straight down to the counter testing it out, succumbed in and made a purchase.

"Live the sophistication of a boundless glossy colour that truly fuses your lips in a new shine. A glossy stain you barely feel. A new movement in lip wear is born."

This new lip stain from YSL is available in 18 permanent shades with the 19th and 20th limited edition shade exclusive to special YSL counters and online. With so many colours to choose from, making the choice to pick just one was well and truly difficult, but I made sure I steered clear of the reds and pinks because I have so many red and pink coloured lip products it's unbelievable! Which narrowed it down to two shade options; orange/corals and nude/beiges.

I picked up shade #7 Corail Aquatique - a coral peach orange shade.

So what exactly is this all in one product?

Glossy Stain is a revolutionary new lip colour from Yves Saint Laurent, Providing ultimate wear, ultimate shine and ultimate colour. The extremely long lasting stain formula uses as exclusive spatula for precise and smooth application and glossy shine.

The packaging is cool, the stain is housed in a black slightly chunky cuboid with a small transparent window so you can see the colour of the stain and how much you have left. Topped with a typical gold YSL screw top lid, it's almost similar to a nail polish bottle - gold, glossy and gleaming!

In-fact if I'm honest these came out on the 14th of February and I walked straight past them because I thought they were nail varnishes until I realised whilst reading up for new products that they were a lip product!

It features a doe-foot applicator which is quite medium in size, is not too big but fits onto the lips quite nicely to allow a clean and well defined line. It's fluffy in texture completely flat with a slight slant and curve to ensure precise application. The stain has a slight fruity scent to it.

Now the application - at first the Glossy Stain almost feels like water, the consistency is very soft and liquidy but this sensation dries almost immediately. The first layer applied on the lips is a sheer and transparent one and leaves the lips covered in a hint of colour, this would be the stain effect. The second layer can be applied for fuller coverage to the lips, this would be your lipstick. The third layer is a high shine glossy finish which is suppose to be a more dramatic effect on the lips and so this would be your lip gloss finish.

Ultimately if the lip gloss part fades it's your lipstick layer that will be revealed and when the lipstick fades a stain is revealed and what is left behind; provides your lips with a beautiful flush of colour.

#7 Corail Aquatique was the shade I picked up, swatched, it was just a true beautiful coral peach shade with a orange undertone rather than a pink one, so I was instantly attracted and with spring summer round the corner I thought it would be perfect. Against my skin tone Corail Aquatique really stood out! It is very pretty and the colour is the right balance of orange and pink to create the perfect and true orange toned coral shade. Note: when swatched on the arm the stain is lighter, but on your lips depending on how pigmented they are it appears deeper (for me it did).

(Above left 3 coats, right, first swatch one coat for stain, second swatch two coats)

If I'm honest I don't own many lip stains, I've only ever tried Benefits 'Benetint' lip stain and that just sits in my make up draw because it felt so drying on the lips, plus I like my lips to look more fuller and dressed up. I like this new product from YSL but I'm not in love with it or think I would even use it all the time, I don't think I will be purchasing it in a different colour anytime soon either, I might but only if I really start using up the first one.

The formula is quite amazing though, it's not at all sticky or drying in-fact quite moisturising which is hard to find when your working with lip stains. My lips never once felt dry. It's also intriguing how one brush manages to layer the right amount of colour for it to work as a stain, lipstick and gloss. But I'm on the fence with this one, I have a mixed verdict on it - I did wear it all day today and yes a stain was still visible after eating having worn it for almost 5-6 hours, the gloss however did disappear which is expected and totally fine, but I just don't know? It's not really long wearing at all in terms of lipstick and lipgloss, 1-2 hours max as long as you don't lick your lips. Let down anyone?

I think this will be a product I would use on lazy days for a flush of colour, although the colour is very pigmented and beautiful it's not so over the top to make you go wow that looks gorgeous, some lip glosses out their can really give your lips an 'oomph' and stand out, this YSL stain just felt 'normal'.

I also think it's quite deceiving, swatched on your hands it really makes out to be something beautiful but once applied on the lips the affect wasn't the same, (sadly I didn't try it on my lips before buying). So ladies I would really try it on your lips before you buy it, at £22.50/$32.00 for a lip product you want to be sure your going to totally love it.

(YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain on my lips-Wear time 3-4 hours)

Maybe lip stains aren't for me, Maybe I'll change my mind, I'll let you know if I do, for now I'll give it the benefit of the doubt because it's YSL...Here's hoping I fall in love second time round! Has anyone picked this up?

Interesting Lip Product...YSL!

Louis Vuitton Monogram Multicolore Alma MM - Black

Sooo, one of the best birthday presents I have ever received in my 24 years of being around is in that brown bag above.

Although my birthday was well over a week ago, Words cannot describe how I felt when I got this handbag, I cried, my legs turned to jelly and I was going to faint. Taking it out and looking at it even today  makes me weak at the knees!

It came in the big brown box on the left above and was wrapped in a soft velvety cloth to the reveal...

Ta Da!..A Louis Vuitton Monogram Multicolore Alma MM in the Black Canvas! I've wanted this BIG FAT SWEETY even before it ever came into production! My favourite Line has always been the Multicolore and my favourite handbag shape is the Alma, I remember saying to Toby; "imagine if they made the Alma in the multicolore line? That is my ultimate and dream handbag... it would be like a big fat bag of sweets and candy!" A few months later there it was in the window of the Louis Vuitton Store and it had to be mine! And to my surprise Toby made that one ultimate dream of a handbag come true!

Behold my Big Fat Sweety:

There are two sizes in the Alma bag, this is the larger one, the smaller version doesn't have the small pocket on the front and I was always lusting over the larger one because the pocket feature on the front really made the bag stand out more.

The bag also comes in two colours; Black background or White Background. I already own pieces in the white background so black was the next choice, but in all honesty the colours just stand out so amazingly on the black background that you can't resist the bag!

The iconic shape of the Alma MM is even more eye-catching in the colourful Monogram Multicolore canvas. A wide opening makes contents easily accessible while it's front pocket is ideal for smaller items. The bag features golden brass studs recalling the classic Louis Vuitton trunks, iconic Toron handles, Studded natural cowhide leather bands and handle tabs. Double Zip opening with a gold padlock. The interior has a beige coloured suede finish with an interior phone and patch pocket. The bottom of the bag has protective studs.

I love my bag soooo much! It's a beautifully made piece, with such delicate and intricate detailing that will always stand out and look unique! I am protective over it and worried it might get damaged but that just means I'll be more cautious using it and making sure no one walks into it.

The great thing about it though is the size, I can carry so much stuff in it, my iPad, makeup bag, wallet, spare shoes, my little baby cousin even packed her things in it lol! And we were both 'ooing and ahhhing' over the big sweet! But the only down side is this bag is heavy and that's without putting things in it! But I wouldn't have it any other way!

So there you are my dears a true beauty and new love of my life!

And finally making it's world wide appearance, My Alma's first public appearance, The Debut...

It made heads turn, it got me evil eyes, it looked over the top but I loved it and it got me compliments too! I paired it with my sparkly Christian Louboutins - Pigalle 120 Glitter and it was the most perfect match ever!

Fancy Style, Dyno Style...Love Louis Vuitton!

End of Week Haul

This weeks haul is a mixture of four purchases and 3 samples:
  • Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel
  • Calvin Klein Euphoria Blossom Perfume
  • Nars Blush in Gaeity
  • MAC Lipstick in Modesty
  • Clarins Ever Matte Foundation Sample
  • Nars Gentle Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover Sample
  • Nars Makeup removing Water Sample

Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel is a Rinse off face wash, it's a light gel that transforms into an oil when applied to the skin and when water is added into a milk. The gel glides over the skin lifts makeup and impurities and the Marula oil in it helps keep the skin feeling comfortable whilst removing all traces of makeup and dirt. The gel is a repurchase for me this week!

I've been using this cleansing gel for over 2 years now and I know some people may feel shock horror at the thought of this cleanser being oil based but one thing I have learnt about skin care is sometimes a little oil is beneficial in maintaining a balance for the skin. I also like the feeling of squeaky clean skin after I've washed my face and this gel helps achieve that without feeling so harsh.

Calvin Klein Euphoria Blossom Perfume was a on the random pick up, I use to wear the CK Euphoria and really liked it in my teenage years. It is actually softer than the classic one with a more woody and floral scent. It brings a fresh citrusy opening, peony in the heart, and white musk in the drydown, with original spicy base components preserved. It's quite different to what I usually wear but cool to have in my collection and reasonably priced for 100ml.

Nars Blush in Gaeity is described as a “bright candy pink.” It’s a medium cotton candy pink; it has a strong blue base, so it levels off more cool-toned. It has decent to good colour pay-off and it can be layered and built up to achieve bright colour. Gaiety is part of the Nars Spring 2012 Makeup Collection and is a new permanent shade added to Nars blushes. You can see my review of it here. I absolutely love it!!!

MAC Lipstick in Modesty is a repurchase this week, It's my to-go lipstick with a colour match of 'my lips but better' shade. This is my favourite MAC lipstick, never lets me down and always looks pretty. This is my third tube in one year, that's how much I love and rely on it!

MAC describe Modesty as a 'Muted Neutral Pink' in a Cremesheen Formula. Cremesheen lipsticks are my favourites as they are smooth, creamy and nicely pigmented offering full coverage. I can't rave about MAC Modesty enough!

Clarins Ever Matte Foundation Sample is a new matte formula foundation from Clarins. The perfect shine-control, balancing foundation for women looking for matte skin in any circumstance. Its plant-based "Skin Detox" complex regulates production of sebum and tightens pores. The fluid, lightweight texture perfectly melts into the skin, allowing it to breathe without any drying effect. The complexion is enhanced with an imperceptible matte veil which remains flawless from morning to night.

I like the sound of this foundation but will always try a sample before I buy. I picked up samples in two shades as one was too dark and the other too light so I may have to combine the two shades to achieve a perfect match. The shades I picked up is '113 Chestnut' and '112 Amber', I'll do a review once I've tried this foundation out. Looking on the Clarins website there is a better selection of shades and I think the sales assistant couldn't be bothered to match me up properly so I might go and browse the section again and pick a shade myself.

Nars Gentle Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover Sample, I'm always on the lookout for a eye makeup remover and after my Clarins Gentle Eye makeup remover lotion fail (reviewed here), I'm looking forward to trying Nars, I absolutely love Nars products!

Nars Makeup removing Water Sample, I'm also always on the lookout for a good face makeup remover, this one appeals as it's soap, alcohol and oil free. I'll do a review on both samples once I've used them for a few days or so.

Let's see what I pick up next week!

Love Hauls!
